Better are the brands around us but the best brand you can ever be is yourself, if you choose to subscribe to it mentally. Everyone desires to be associated with the best brand, yet very few are intentional about building one. Becoming a brand is a process. However, the rewards are abundant for those who stay the course.
Many people often ignore this truth, but not Mr Owili, a senior teacher at Prime Junior School. He set out with a clear intention of becoming a brand in his profession. His journey began with a mindset shift. He personalized every activity entrusted to him, even when it was a team effort, with the aim of producing the best outcome possible. Whenever he was assigned a task, he worked as if no one else could do it better, and in so doing he raised the bar for himself and others.
As a Primary Five teacher, he never regarded his duties as simply working for his bosses. Instead, he saw the tasks as his personal responsibility and his own investment. This mindset influenced his thinking, his energy, his speed of execution, and the time he dedicated to his work. Consequently, his achievements stood out so much that staff members often remarked, “Owili is the only teacher with distinctions.”
Mr Owili’s motivation grew whenever he was entrusted with more responsibilities. These opportunities enhanced his mental growth and sharpened his ability to organize himself. He came to understand that becoming a brand went far beyond trust; it was about consistently performing with quality, making the right decisions, and upholding good values. These principles became his compass, guiding his daily pursuit of excellence.
His learners continuously excelled, proving his effectiveness. Parents, colleagues, and learners alike trusted him, and with time, his reputation extended beyond his school to the entire district. His dream, though it once seemed impossible, became a reality through determination and consistency.
Surely, Mr Owili is a teacher, but today he dines with millionaires.
