It is an actuality that not all crops grow at the same pace. Some sprout quickly, others take longer, and a few need extra watering. Yet in the end, each plant blooms in its own time. The same happens in our classes. Some learners grasp ideas right away, while others need more time to fully understand.

That’s where remedial lessons come in. They are not typically addressing weakness or failure, but giving every learner the attention they deserve and strengthening the foundation for progress.

In Uganda’s fast-paced education system, it’s easy for some learners to fall through the cracks. Absenteeism, language barriers, or the quick pace can make it hard for many to keep up. Without extra support, these learners may perform poorly in different assessments. It is at this point that additional academic assistance is needed; giving them a chance to catch up and find joy in learning again.

In the past, it had a very personal touch. Learners would stay behind after class or come early in the morning for extra help, sitting in small groups and be guided through difficult topics. Those moments turned struggling learners into confident achievers.

However, Extra learning has taken a new turn. With platforms like the Prime Learn App, teachers can reach learners beyond the classroom. They can host live lessons, share lesson videos, provide notes and quizzes, and track progress. Yet many still overlook this opportunity, seeing technology as a distraction instead it has made me a great teacher to multitudes.

As an excellent learning facilitator and mentor, I have seen the impact of extra lessons firsthand with evidence of learners who I discovers struggling with basic concepts.
